Fall Open House!
The garden had its second annual Fall Open House today, marking a little over one year since the start of Newroz.
To celebrate, I put up informational posters, lawn games (S/O to Michael from Rec-Im for letting me borrow the games last minute), and a card-making activity. I tied a ribbon across the garden door and even had a ribbon-cutting ceremony! Students had the opportunity to sign up to become a part of the garden team and all visitors were encouraged to take home any remaining produce (especially the zinnias and sunflowers).
I saw many familiar faces from the past work days as well as recent harvest days-- some of these people include my friends Sophie, Jocelyn, Bekah, and Heather. There were also some new faces as well that came to celebrate one year of the garden. Among the visitors, faculty and staff came to show their support. Our visitors included:
Laurie from the Bistro Cafe
Amanda from physical plant
Corinne, our garden advisor, and her son Michael
Judy and Pam from the ASC (Academic Success Center)
Pam from the CCI (Career & Connections Institute)
Dr. Melkonian-Hoover and her daughter Gabriella
Thank you to everyone who came; I hope you know that the garden thrives because of your support. It was a joy to witness everyone enjoying themselves and one another's company at the garden. Also, kudos to my awesome dad for helping me set up and take down the event! The garden is closed for the winter, and we will be planting again in May.
