Wildlife at the Garden
We all know that the garden has some lovely tomatoes, cucumbers, sunflowers, zinnias, and more... but did you know that we have a diverse array of living creatures as well? After all, the garden is an ecosystem: microbes and worms in the soil, bees, butterflies, hummingbird moths...
For me, it is always a joy to witness the abundant life in the garden, especially if it's moving. I often squat next to plants and take pictures, mesmerized, while Grace is watering the garden. I never tire of watching the fuzzy bumble bees and busy honey bees pollenating the various flowers in the garden. I also feel lucky when I spot monarch butterflies; zinnias are their favorite.
Scroll down to see some pictures that I've taken of our friendly visitors:

Honeybee; quite possibly one of Dr. Story's bees from a nearby hive

Hummingbird moths
(they actually do look deceivingly like hummingbirds...they also look like a
shrimp/hummingbird hybrid, in my opinion.)
