Summer Work
Although there are no set gardeners or workdays over the summer, Grace and Alden have been continuing to take care of the plants with the help of anyone willing to come out.** Not every work day has been recorded, because much of the same work is repetitive; however, here are pictures from two work days:
May 30: Fertilizer
Alden brought over some recycled ground coffee beans from a local Starbucks (North Beverly) and we supplemented each bed with a good amount of them. One of the positive effects of fertilizer is that worms come up to the surface of the beds to eat the coffee grounds and as they make their way back down, they distribute fertilized soil throughout the bed.
June 1: Watering and Weeding
This day mainly consisted of watering the beds and weeding necessary beds (eg. pulling out some sunflower sprouts from the overcrowded bed).
